1. Жила в Египте девочка Мария,

Слыла Мария жадной до мужчин,

И все мужчины были в её власти,

Не устоял пред нею ни один.

2. Однажды, оказавшись у причала,
Где был корабль в дорогу снаряжён,
«Меня с собой возьмите! — прокричала, —
От скуки будет каждый мной спасён!»
Смеясь, мужчины согласились, дабы
В дороге веселее было им,
И в долгий путь отправился корабль
В великий город Иерусалим.

3. Был в Иерусалиме славный праздник —
Воздвиженье Честнейшего Креста,
Который обрели на месте казни
Спасителя и Господа Христа.
Мария, оказавшись в этом граде,
Решила храм Господень посетить,
Но шла она туда не Бога ради,
А чтоб опять кого-то соблазнить.

4. Когда Мария в этот храм входила
С толпою Бога ищущих людей,
Какая-то неведомая сила
Её вдруг оттолкнула от дверей.
Она опять протиснулась ко входу
И вот уже почти туда вошла,
Как в грудь её толкнул незримый кто-то,
И вновь она отторгнута была.

5. Но, так и не поняв, что это было,
Она опять влилась в людской поток,
И в третий раз неведомая сила
Марию не пустила на порог.
По сторонам сердито озираясь,
Икону вдруг увидела она,
Икону, где Мария, Та, Другая,
Была с Младенцем изображена.

6. И столько было боли в этом взоре,
Что сердце, где была одна лишь страсть,
Могло остановиться бы от горя,
Когда б к иконе этой не припасть.
Марию словно молния пронзила,
И поняла она, из-за чего
Мария, Та, Другая, не пустила
Её к Кресту, в храм Сына Своего.

7. И вспомнив жизнь свою в одно мгновенье,
Как цепь порочных адовых кругов,
Мария опустилась на колени
Под тяжестью содеянных грехов,
И распростёрла руки пред иконой,
И каялась пред Богом, не таясь,
А слёзы всё лились из глаз рекою,
С души смывая въевшуюся грязь.

8. И жизнь свою исправить обещая,
Она молила в храм её пустить,
И ей в ответ Мария, Та, другая,
Кивнула словно: так тому и быть!
И обретя в душе такую лёгкость,
Как будто невесомою была,
Мария вдруг почувствовала робость
И внутрь беспрепятственно вошла.

9. И видя Крест Страдания Господня,
Мария поняла, как милосерд
Ко всем, кто с покаянием приходит,
Христос-Спаситель, распятый за всех.
Она из храма вышла, понимая,
Что в этом мире больше нет её…
Теперь уже Мария, Та, Другая,
По-новому смотрела на неё.

10. И голос, от иконы исходящий,
Сказал Марии: «Перейди Йордан,
И если ты смирение обрящешь, —
Блаженное упокоенье дам».
И выполнила свой обет Мария:
Одна, в пустыне, сорок

Decided to visit the temple of the Lord,
But she was not there, for God's sake
And again to seduce someone.

4. When Mary to the temple included
With a bunch of God seekers
Some unknown force
She pushed away from the door.

7. And remembering my life in a moment
As a hellish chain of vicious circles
Maria knelt
Under the weight of sins committed,
And spread out my hands in front of the icon,
And repented before God, openly,
And the tears flowed from all eyes by the river
From the soul washing away grime.

8. Be-all and promising a fix,
She prayed in temple to put,
And her answer Mary, The other one
Like nodded: so be it!
And finding in the shower so light,
As if weightless was,
Maria suddenly felt timid
Inside and entered freely.

9. And seeing the Cross of the Suffering Lord,
Maria understood how merciful
To everyone who comes with repentance,
Christ the Savior, crucified for all.
From the temple she went, knowing,
What in this world is no more her...
Now Maria, She
A fresh look at her.

10. And a voice from the icon of outgoing,
Said Mary: "Go Jordan,
And if you abramasi of humility, —
Blessed is the repose of the ladies."
