I am sitting in the morning
At the diner on the corner
I am waiting at the counter
For the man to pour the coffee
And he fills it only halfway

And before I even argue
He is looking out the window
At somebody coming in

"It is always nice to see you"
Says the man behind the counter
To the woman who has come in
She is shaking her umbrella

And I look the other way
As they are kissing their hellos
I'm pretending not to see them
Instead I pour the milk

I open up the paper
There's a story of an actor
Who had died while he was drinking
It was no one I had heard of

And I'm turning to the horoscope
And looking for the funnies
When I'm feeling someone watching me
And so I raise my head

There's a woman on the outside

Looking inside - Does she see me?
No she does not really see me
'Cause she sees her own reflection
And I'm trying not to notice
That she's hitching up her skirt
And while she's straightening her stockings
Her hair is getting wet

Oh, this rain - it will continue
Through the morning as I'm listening
To the bells of the cathedral
I am thinking of your voice...
And of the midnight picnic
Once upon a time before the rain began...

I finish up my coffee
It's time to catch the train

Как-то утром сидела я
В закусочной на углу.
Ждала у прилавка
Чтобы мне налили кофе.
Но бармен наполнил чашку только
наполовину
Я хотела было возразить, но заметила
Что он смотрит в окно,
Заметив там кого-то…

"Всегда рад тебя видеть" -
Сказал бармен
Вошедшей женщине.
Она как раз стряхивала капли дождя со
своего зонтика.
Я отвернулась чтобы не смотреть
Как они целуются в качестве приветствия.
И вообще притворилась что я здесь одна.
И доливаю в чашку вместо кофе молоко.

Я открыла газету и увидела там
Статью об актёре,
Захлебнувшемся в стакане.
Странно, я о таком актёре ничего не
слышала.
Так что я стала искать в газете гороскоп
И странички юмора,
Когда почувствовала что на меня смотрят.
И я подняла голову.

Это женщина снаружи заглядывает
через окно.
Интересно - видит ли она меня?
Нет, не видит -
Ей мешает своё же отражение в стекле.
Я пытаюсь делать вид что не замечаю
Как она задирает юбку и
Поправляет колготки.
И не чувствует что её волосы намокают.

А этот дождь будет идти
Всё утро, пока я буду слушать
Колокола собора.
А я всё думаю о твоём голосе…
И о полночном пикнике
Однажды до дождя.

Я допиваю кофе
И спешу на свой поезд

One morning I sat
At the diner on the corner.
Waited at the counter
So I poured coffee.
But the bartender filled the Cup only
half
I wanted to retort, but noticed
He looks out the window,
Seeing someone there...

"Always good to see you" -
Said the bartender
Included woman.
She shook raindrops from
his umbrella.
I turned away not to look
As they kiss as a greeting.
And in General pretend I'm here alone.
And topped off the Cup of coffee instead of milk.

I opened the newspaper and saw
Article about the actor,
Drown in the glass.
Strange, I about this actor nothing
heard.
So I started looking in the newspaper horoscope
And pages of humor,
When I felt that looking at me.
And I looked up.

This woman looks on the outside
through the window.
Interesting - does it see me?
No, not see -
Interferes with her own reflection in the glass.
I'm trying to pretend not to notice
As she lifts up her skirt and
Adjusts her pantyhose.
And feels that her hair is wet.

And this rain will move
All morning as I listen
The bells of the Cathedral.
I was thinking about your voice...
And the midnight picnic
One day before the rain.

I finish my coffee
I'm in a rush for your train
