Льдом коварным над мутными топями.
Ждут добычи его демоны -
Роятся стаями в подворотнях.
Все удушливей запах падали,
Страх стучит у виска молотом.
Даже самые дерзкие ангелы
Не залетят сюда - так здесь холодно...

И свет не вернуть,
И небо, день за днем,
Бубонною чумой сжирает мрак!
Когда ты вышел в путь
И пренебрег огнем -

Стынут улицы, мглою устелены.
Ледяная ночь - смерти темный трон.
Кости брошены, ставки сделаны -
Здесь теперь твой дом, твой последний дом!
Тщетно в замкнутом круге мечешься -

Кто не греется пламенем вечности -
