13 февраля 1991 года в 4:30 утра два американских самолёта F-117 пустили по бомбоубежищу в Амириии (район Багдада) две управляемые ракеты. Первая ракета пробила армированный бетон двухметровой толщины и ушла вниз. Через 4 минуты в бомбоубежище влетела вторая ракета, она разрушила центр жизнеобеспечения бомбоубежища. Температура взрыва была огромной, в результате чего плавился бетон и горел металл. Все находящиеся в убежище люди погибли. Погибло 408 человек. Сообщение об этой трагедии в новостях ввело Тома Йорка в глубокую депрессию, результатом которой стала эта песня.
