Тем не менее, спустя более 10 лет Пол Маккартни решился-таки на смелый шаг: сочинил недостающие строки и записал их в своём исполнении, оставив в припеве голос автора. Ринго Старр обеспечил партию ударных, а гитару музыканты взяли из архивных записей Джорджа Харрисона.

When in 1994, McCartney, Starr and Harrison were the anthology "The Beatles", John's widow Yoko Ono gave them the tapes with unfinished versions of three songs, two of which — "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" — musicians have reworked. From the third had to be abandoned because colleagues of the late Lennon decided not to finish the stanza of verse, so as not to interpret wrong.
However, after more than 10 years, Paul McCartney decided on a bold move: wrote the missing lines and recorded them in its execution, leaving in the chorus the voice of the author. Ringo Starr provided the percussion, and guitar musicians taken from archival recordings of George Harrison.
